Holi symbolizes the victory of good over evil. It is a festival of colours and gaiety which is celebrated all over India. Students of grade 9 conducted a colourful Art activity with students of the neighboring Adarsh School as part of their CAS activity. Students painted vibrant and colourful pictures of Holi to celebrate the festive spirit.
Grade 9 students visited Barcelona and Madrid and got an opportunity to learn about the Spanish language, culture and traditions. Students learnt about the famous Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi. They visited the Sagrada Familia, Museu de la Xocolate, Olympic Stadium, Monsterrat Abbey and Santiago Stadium. The Flamenco workshop and Tapas workshop helped them gain a better understanding of the Spanish culture.
As part of the ongoing CAS activity with our neighbouring Janata School, students of Grade 9 conducted an Art & Craft activity with students from the Janata School. With the theme of Republic Day in mind, our students incorporated the national fruit (mango), bird (peacock), animal (tiger) and the colours of the national flag in the activity.
Constructive 'PLAY' is vital for the intellectual, social and emotional growth of a child. Bearing this in mind, DYPIS students from Grades 8 and 9 incorporated interesting, engaging and challenging games in the English enhancement programme designed for students of our neighbouring schools - Janata Marathi School and the Adarsh Sikshan Sanstha.
Grade 9 had an interesting and interactive session with the WSD (Welfare of Stray Dogs). The session "The Day of the Dog" was conducted by WSD at DYPIS. WSD is an NGO that carries out programs of sterilizing and immunizing stray dogs. Their main objective is to control the street dog population in a humane manner and eliminate human rabies. It also has an adoption programme, a first aid programme and an education and awareness programme. This session sensitized our students towards the life and plight of stray dogs.
The development of language skills is fundamental for the need to communicate. It supports and enhances one's thinking and understanding. Students of Grade 9 planned a variety of activities to help children studying in the Primary Section at Janata Shikshan Sanshtha to enhance their English Language skills. Writing books that involved a range of sentence structures, strategies and literary techniques (spelling, grammar, punctuation, voice) were distributed to the students from the above school to reinforce the skills they learnt in the above sessions.
