  • Holi traditionally marks the arrival of the harvest season to welcome the spring during the full moon of the lunar month of Phalgun. Holi is a time of unity and brotherhood, a chance to set aside differences and celebrate. At DYPIS, the students enthusiastically displayed their creative best to spread the message and importance of HOLI.
This month the CAS Club students focused on music wherein a guest speaker facilitated students understanding about Folk Music. Following which, students created their own musical instruments which they used as part of expressing themselves during the course of an enactment based on Music and movement depicting the story of Holi.
Students of Grade 1 exhibited their skills in mime through an act 'Go Green this Holi. A few budding singers from grade 3 sang a song on the festival of Holi. Students of Grade 1 further enacted a short skit incorporating the message of elimination of racial discrimination through the beauty of colours. After watching the skit, students took a pledge to send across a message of being sensitive about differences and diversity in the world. Students of grade 1 recited a poem on Holi thus reiterating the need to forget every difference and celebrate the festival with fun. This poem motivated the students to spread the message of respecting varied cultures & being open minded to other people's perspectives. To keep up to the tradition of celebrating the festival of colours and to fill in the hearts of the students with vibrant sentiments, students of Grade 1 put up an energetic dance performance. Of all the information received, students chose to take a pledge to save water by playing dry Holi. They received a global perspective on the entire celebration process, with a significant message of unity in diversity.

  • International Mother Language Day (IMLD)

International Mother Language Day (IMLD) is a worldwide annual observance held on 21st February. We at DYPIS took the initiative to celebrate International Mother Language Dayin a very unique manner. Parents across grades nursery to 5 were requested to get together and plan an event for their respective grade wherein they could form groups and showcase a particular mother language [mother –tongue] and its culture through performances such as dance, skit, story-telling, puppet-show, singing, poem recitation to name a few. The purpose behind the celebrations was to provide students with an opportunity to witness multiple cultural acts as part of our endeavor to promote the different languages spoken locally. With great enthusiasm, parents volunteered for the International Mother Language Day celebrations. Students were indeed surprised and thrilled to watch their parents perform and took back home some wonderful memories. International Mother Language Day Celebrations enabled the school & parents to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our tangible and intangible heritage. Each performance facilitated to promote the dissemination of mother tongues which served not only to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education but also helped to develop greater awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions amongst students and inspired solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue. Kudos to all our parent volunteers for making this celebration indeed unique with their creative performances.
DYPIS truly appreciates all your enthusiasm and support.
